Replace professional tape formats with higher quality CineForm files for improved workflow efficiency

CineDDR is CineForm's direct-to-disk recording and playback software that replaces tape recording — such as HDCAM SR™, D5™, and DVCPRO HD™ — with higher-quality CineForm digital disk recording. With up to 12-bit precision, the visual quality of CineForm compression matches or exceeds that of HDCAM SR, ensuring the highest image fidelity for your professional recording and playback requirements.

CineForm files are widely supported on both Windows and Mac by numerous industry-standard software packages delivering workflow efficiency unachievable with tape. Users may choose either QuickTime or AVI wrappers for recorded media based on the intended post-production workflow.

CineDDR offers interface control compatibility with traditional VTRs through its 9-pin master/slave VTR emulation capability, including timecode-based recording and playout. This allows replacement of tape formats with higher-quality and less expensive digital disk recording for most applications.

System DDR Configuration: A fully-configured CineDDR system runs on an Intel-based PC or Mac combined with an AJA Xena (Windows) or Kona (Mac) card to duplicate the I/O and control functionality of tape decks, yet at a fraction of the cost. Recording media are standard SATA hard drives configured with or without RAID to user preference. (PC or Mac hardware and AJA cards are purchased separately.)

Software Purchase: CineDDR is available for software purchase for either Windows or Mac (pending), and may be chosen as either:

  • CineDDR-SLW (Single Link): 10-bit YUV recording/playback OR
  • CineDDR-DLW (Dual Link): 12-bit RGB recording/playback (also supports single link)

CineDDR DX: CineForm partnered with Drastic Technologies to produce CineDDR DX, a fully-integrated dual-link digital disk recorder with up to 10 hours of recording into 12-bit CineForm 4:4:4 files. CineDDR DX also includes CineForm’s Neo 4K software supporting numerous file conversion options, plus Drastic’s QuickClipXO and ShotBox software for further workflow enhancements. See the CineDDR DX product description for more details.

Windows System Integration
For those integrating their own systems on Windows, CineForm recommends Lenovo Thinkstation D20 with ThinkVision L2440x monitors and W700 Thinkpad mobile workstations.  Both families have been thoroughly tested with CineForm software, and each offers the performance and reliability to ensure maximum integrity for your digital workflow.
